Cindy Nordlund is the Senior Director for the Duke Quality Network and the Director of Accreditation/Regulatory Affairs for Duke University Health System. Her professional interests include patient safety, performance improvement, patient experience and quality.
In 2012, Cindy joined Duke Network Services as the Patient Safety Officer and is assisting in the development of the Duke Quality Network which provides the infrastructure and support for comprehensive quality oversight and patient safety initiatives for Duke LifePoint Hospitals.
Cindy’s extensive clinical background includes obstetrics, orthopaedics and pediatrics. Cindy’s experience in Duke Neonatal Intensive Care from 1979 to 1992 included clinical and administrative responsibilities. She transitioned to Raleigh Community Hospital in Raleigh, NC (now Duke Raleigh Hospital) in 1992, where she served as the Director of Risk Management and Regulatory Affairs until 2012. Her responsibilities included patient safety, quality, performance improvement, accreditation and risk management.
Cindy graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Broward Community College in Coconut Creek Florida. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UNC-Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing at the Duke School of Nursing.
