Amy Kessenich is the Senior Director of the Duke Heart Network and has been a part of Duke since 1992. Amy has held progressive leadership roles across DUHS including Associate Operating Officer and Duke Director of the Southeastern Heart Center in Lumberton, NC from 2006 to 2012. Amy concurrently served as the Practice Manager for Duke Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery of Lumberton Clinic from April 2008 to March 2012. In October 2004, Amy served as Interim Associate Operating Officer for the Duke Heart Center, while simultaneously leading the Duke Heart Center for Excellence.

Amy has expertise in strategic program planning and implementation and has completed Six-Sigma black belt certification. She has broad cardiovascular clinical experience including nursing roles in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic intensive care units (both medical and surgical) and cardiac catheterization laboratories and brings additional experience in research through her work at the Duke Clinical Research Institute.

Amy received her master’s in public health and master’s in public administration in December 2009 from UNC-Pembroke and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
