Candi Van Vleet is an Associate Clinical Director of the Duke Heart Network. She provides cardiovascular emergency care leadership to numerous hospitals and EMS agencies.

Dr. Van Vleet’s professional career includes experience as a cardiothoracic and trauma intensive care nurse, emergency department nurse manager, flight nurse, trauma outreach, and paramedic field training officer. As a Six Sigma Black Belt, she is regularly integrating her clinical expertise with quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care. Her recent work includes connecting prehospital performance with hospital outcomes in order to decrease first medical contact to device times for ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients.

She is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a Doctor of Health Administration. She has a Master in Business Administration from Elon University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and a Bachelor of Science in emergency medical care from Western Carolina University.
