Jean is an Associate Clinical Director for the Duke Heart Network. She earned a BSN in nursing from the University of Toledo and the Medical College of Ohio in 1985. Jean moved to Durham in 1987 to begin work at Duke University Hospital, spending the next 22 years as a staff nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, being heavily involved in shared governance activities and operationson theunit, hospital and health system levels, earning an Excellence in Nursing Leadership award from the Duke University Health System Friends of Nursing organization. In 2005, Jean completed a dual degree, MBA/MHA, from Pfeiffer University. After 22 years at the bedside, Jean broadened her career by becoming a member of the Duke Heart Network team in 2009. Jean brings her strong clinical experience and certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt to the team.
Jean's clinical interests include performance improvement, heart failure, cardiovascular and surgical intensive care practice as well as staff development and education.
